If a room doesn't get much natural light or could use some visual warmth, yellow is a perfect choice. It’s the most luminous shade and has the added benefit of chasing any chill. Use it to brighten up the space where you and your family gather, and fuel yourselves with a burst of sunshine all day long. You can also add personality to a simple tabletop by painting it in a bold color. Go for contrast and don’t forget to work the edges.

WALL: Rue de Maubeuge

'The name refers to a street in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, where my first apartment was located. It was on the top floor with a nice view, overlooking the city. The yellow canopy was always perfect for finding shade on a sunny day.'

TABLE: Aubergine coaT

'This colour pays tribute to a website called The Aubergine Coat, which is run by the Dutch journalist Merel Bem, who writes about fashion in the most beautiful way.'

TABLE: Road block

''When you stroll through the city, you come across so many striking and vividly colored punctuations.
They may seem invisible, but they do accentuate the swinging downtown rhythm.'
